FINCIS

Long-term cooperation

FINCIS’ activities are guided by international agreements and codes that need to be translated to make them understandable to various stakeholders. Delingua and FINCIS have worked together for more than 10 years. The main focus of the cooperation is on translating various texts into a number of different languages. The translated materials have included doping test instructions for international events held in Finland, research reports, decisions and website content.

This year, the most important translation assignments from FINCIS have been related to Finland’s Antidoping Code, which must satisfy the requirements stipulated by the World Anti-Doping Code. FINCIS is also in the process of updating its website, which will be published in three languages.

Our cooperation with Delingua has been smooth, even when the schedules are tight.

FINCIS and Delingua have engaged in vocabulary cooperation over the years to shape the terminology in the field to suit the Finnish language.

A good grasp of terminology

The terminology used in FINCIS’ assignments largely originates from the English language and sometimes there are no established Finnish terms in use. For this reason, FINCIS and Delingua have engaged in vocabulary cooperation over the years to shape the terminology in the field to suit the Finnish language.

FINCIS underwent an organisational change in 2016 when the responsibilities of the Finnish Antidoping Agency, established in 2001, were expanded to include ethics in sports. Following this organisational change, Delingua quickly developed a strong grasp of new terminology related to competition manipulation, spectator safety and other aspects of ethics in sports.
