The Europe Forum is being held for the seventh time. The number-one arena for the EU discussion will gather participants to discuss the theme “Europe’s Secure Future” at the end of August. All programme sections in Finnish and Swedish will be interpreted simultaneously into English.
Delingua has been the interpreting partner of the Europe Forum for the past two years. This year, after last summer’s change of ownership, we are providing interpreting as part of the LanguageWire group. The Europe Forum will be held at Turku City Theatre on 28–30 August 2024.
EU discussion over language barriers
At the end of August, the Europe Forum will gather top experts from the fields of politics, economics and science in Turku to discuss topical issues related to the future of Europe. The range of speakers is very diverse: ministers, ambassadors, CEOs, researchers and top experts. International speakers include the former Prime Minister of Italy Enrico Letta and Hosuk Lee-Makiyama, Director of the European Centre for International Political Economy and a respected economic expert.
At the three-day event, all programme sections in Finnish and Swedish will be interpreted simultaneously into English. In simultaneous interpreting, the interpreter interprets into another language while the speaker is speaking. This year is exceptional as for the first time interpreting takes place completely remotely. Remote simultaneous interpreting allows event participants to listen to simultaneous interpreting at the venue using an application downloaded to their own phone. Interpreting makes it possible to follow conversations across language barriers.
Check out what top experts sound like when interpreted
Listening to simultaneous interpreting is an amazing experience! The speaker does not speak more slowly or take breaks for interpreting; instead, the interpreter steps into the shoes of the speaker and adapts to the speaker’s speaking style and speed. Even if English is not your first language, we recommend that you test your language skills and try what top experts sound like when interpreted.
If you are unable to attend, you can follow the Europe Forum live online for free. Recordings of the event can also be viewed afterwards on the Europe Forum’s YouTube channel.
